LAN Party III
Burbank LAN Party III
If you build it, they will come. And lots of them. In all, the names of 46 people appeared on the signup sheet. There were about 6 people who didn't sign for whatever reason (probably because I didn't hit them up for it). There was lots of killing that night with four local servers running various games; clanring, teams, and free for all.
The following is a list of attendees. My apologies if I misspell your alias or misidentify you in any way. Please correct me if necessary, but I'm just copying directly off of the list provided.

The evening started out with many people milling around watching those who showed up early to get a station. A free for all server was started and way too many Quakers packed into small levels like DM4. It was wall to wall gibs as chunks flew everywhere. A 1 on 1 clanring server hosted a number of matches between people. In the first of the evening, Reptile talked Hobgoblin into a duel. The match was rather one sided as Reptile demonstrated his usual mastery of DM6. A demo of Dmann-DY squaring off against a Mr. Rogers was recorded, but seems to have been lost in the shuffle. Dmann later dueled Unholy and lost, (I believe it was 3 or 4 to 12) but that is better than my own pathetic performance of 12 to 1 the first Time ever.
By 3 am or so the crowds died down considerably and soon it was business as usual. After a few words of challenge, Delta Clan squared off against Postal in a ClanRing match. The match was good but with Reptile and Club dishing out blue plate specials of carnage asada at bargain prices, the affair was rather one sided. Final score was 96 to 47, Postal.
Not to be outdone, Clan Xtreme Prejudice battled Delta Clan as well. Perhaps desiring a measure of revenge after their loss to Postal, DC fought hard and the battle was rather close for much of the match. With just a few minutes left in the match, XP-Unholy went aggro and mulched numerous DCs with quad rockets. When the contest was over, Unholy had nearly as many frags as Kiljoy, who incidentally had the highest frags in the match for almost the entire Time but ran low on steam in the latter period. In the final minutes, XP managed to gain a respectable lead over DC, 71 to 45.
One final clan on clan match was staged as DC once more faced off with Postal. By this Time, Club had departed to do battle with the demons in his dreams, so Postal's lineup had two semi-retired clanners in its roster as opposed to just one in the previous match. The players became a very big factor in how well Delta Clan faired against Postal a second Time around. The match was significantly closer and the combination of factors (increased familiarity with netquake, the changed Postal clanners, DC's stifling 4 man rush tactics) made the match much more tense. In the end, Postal managed to squeeze by for a victory, 64 to 56.
It's worth mentioning that DC is almost strictly a QuakeWorld clan and many of their members were unused to the physics of netquake. Even DC LPBs are QuakeWorld players. To prove a point about the difference, Reptile dueled Ozy on two maps (DM6 and DM4) using QuakeWorld. Reptile was constantly frustrated by the new physics. He did win both matches, but the scores were a lot closer than I would have predicted.
Final greets go out to:
